Login failed. Please try again.
What it means: The account you're signing in with hasn't paid for access. When the paywall is enabled, the game login is blocked for any account that hasn't made the one-time unlock purchase, and the client shows that block as this generic "Login failed. Please try again."
Cause: Downloading and installing Bismuth is free, but playing online requires a one-time purchase per account. Until that account is unlocked, the server won't issue a game session, so the client stops at the login screen.
Fix: Sign in to the same account on the website and use the Unlock Bismuth button to complete the one-time purchase, then log in again in-game. Website login is never blocked, so you can always reach the unlock button. (If the server has the paywall disabled, this message is an ordinary login failure instead — double-check the username and password.)
